The Preliminary Tests for the 24 Hours of Le Mans were introduced by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) in 1959 to give competitors the opportunity to test their cars and drivers on the Le Mans circuit a few weeks before the race. Until now, no book has been devoted to the history of these Essais Préliminaires. This first volume covers the period 1970-1974, a period rich in changes, both to the track (the Maison Blanche zone in 1972) and to the regulations (5-liter Sports then the advent of 3-liter Prototypes). The 3 or 4-hour Le Mans race, which was organized during these test weekends, is also covered in the book.

Très bon ouvrage concernant une période pas du tout traitée par ailleurs Nombreuses photos inédites et d'excellente qualité pour la plupart d'entre elles Classements complets concernant les essais préliminaires et les courses annexes Dommage que certaines voitures ne soient pas en photos (notamment les PORSCHE 911) Epreuve annexe en 1974 (2 Heures de l'ACO) non traitée Quelques erreurs concernant les prénoms de certains pilotes amateurs Cependant, malgré ces quelques inperfections, ouvrage à ne pas manquer

Ce que l'on appelle une somme ! Un ouvrage qui rajeunit les plus anciens et devrait séduire les plus jeunes. Et toujours des légendes et commentaires justes et pertinents. Travail remarquable, comme toujours chez cet auteur. Nous attendons la suite pour laquelle il faudra peut-être plus qu'un volume !
