French/English texts
Who was Jean Bugatti? How was a young man under thirty able to take charge of a company that was almost bankrupt in a troubled period both in France and in Europe, all in the shadow of an artist father who only trusted his certainties? Jean was nevertheless the author of some of the greatest masterpieces of automobile creation. Unfortunately, he did not have the leisure to enjoy the life of a young designer admired by all the factory staff as well as by the Grand Prix drivers for very long, with the parties organized at the Hostellerie du Pur sang after the racing victories and evenings in the capital's cabarets. The crisis that occurred at the beginning of the 1930s marked the end of the Golden Age for Bugatti as for all French manufacturers and coachbuilders of exceptional cars.
François VANARET is above all an illustrator, so it was by observing and then drawing the creations of Jean Bugatti that he analyzed and sought to understand his approach.
